Video Surveillance Provides Security

Video surveillance is the use of video cameras to transmit streaming video images to a specific place, such as a set of monitors, and can be recorded on a server. These systems are on a “closed” circuit and are not open for public viewing. Walsh Electronic Security generally uses IP based cameras where the data is stored on a server. Video surveillance software is then used to analyze, sort, store and process the images.

High definition and advanced mega-pixel IP cameras provide superior images and quality. These cameras can often utilize a facility’s existing network infrastructure; therefore further reducing costs. Cameras are used to monitor the interior and exterior of facilities. Often times the best locations for cameras are hallways, classrooms, computer rooms, lunch rooms, libraries, sports facilities, entrances, exits, parking lots, and campus areas.

The key benefits to video surveillance are:

  • Increase security for employees and students
  • Prevent violence and theft
  • Minimize the costs of vandalism
  • Investigate incidents and identify suspects
  • Remote viewing of live or recorded images on a mobile device
  • Integrate with access control systems and alarms
  • Valuable video analytics

Walsh Electronic Security recommends Milestone XProtect video surveillance software. Milestone Systems is the world's leading provider of open platform IP video management software (VMS) and its XProtect VMS is used by more than 100,000 customers worldwide. XProtect is designed with open architecture. This means that all XProtect products are compatible with more IP cameras, encoders and digital video recorders than any other VMS manufacturer's products, giving you the freedom to mix and match hardware to fit your needs and budget.
